Level 3 Diploma in Business

The Level 3 Diploma in Business is a 60 credit Ofqual regulated qualification and is considered equivalent to an A Level or Access to HE qualification. It has been designed with support from higher education providers and is intended for learners who wish to progress to a business or management degree but may not have the traditional entry qualifications usually required.

The qualification provides learners with an introduction to the business environment and to marketing as well as key academic, research and communication skills that are required for successful progression to higher education.

Entry Requirements

We would consider standard entry criteria as anyone above the age of 18 holding:

  • 5 or more GCSEs at grades C and above, including English and Maths
  • Or a relavent level 2 qualifications
  • Or equivalent international qualifications
  • Or work experience

Each application will be processed on merit and those which do not fall into the criteria listed above, may be considered.

Modes of Study Classroom based learning, with classes available during weekends and evenings.
Assessment Assignment for each module/unit.
Overall Grading Type Pass/Merit/Distinction.

This unit introduces key aspects of all businesses and how they operate within the wider business world and internally.

The Business Environment

This unit aims to introduce all aspects of that external environment and how an organisation may choose to ‘position itself’ through marketing.

Working in Teams

This unit introduces the skills of teamwork: motivation, leadership and the importance of delegating, influencing and developing.

Maximising Resources to Achieve Success

This unit aims to ensure understanding of a range of resources businesses need, why this must be monitored and how this can be achieved.

Managing People in Organisations

This unit aims to give knowledge and understanding about recruitment, performance management and development.

Effective Business Communication

Good communication skills are critical. This unit explores the written and oral skills that are needed in a variety of business contexts.

  • This qualification is designed to provide access to higher education institutions and to level 4 qualifications, including Level 4 qualifications like the Level 4 Diploma in Management at Western International College.
  • Access to High Education includes entry to various Bachelor Degree programmes at universities such as The University of Northampton and The University of Bedfordshire.
